Clifton is a big, spread-out city with genuinely distinct neighborhoods, and the chimney work changes as you move across it. Botany Village and Delawanna are the older, denser sections -- early 1900s workers' housing near what were the mills, a lot of two-families, tight lots, and chimneys that have been in service well over a century. Athenia, Richfield and Allwood are largely 1920s through 1950s: brick and frame capes, colonials and the postwar tracts that filled Clifton out.
Clifton has an unusually high share of houses that still have masonry chimneys serving mid-efficiency gas equipment, and that puts it right in the middle of the orphaned-flue problem.
